The Senate Committee on Committees appointed Kellie B. Campbell, an associate director in information technology at St. Michael’s College, to the Vermont Commission on Women.

Rutland Regional Medical Center announced that Michael Hurtado, M.D., joined its surgical team. Hurtado is board-certified in general surgery and will be affiliated with Rutland General Surgery, a department of RRMC. He recently completed his residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach. John Karl, M.D., joined RRMC’s Vermont Orthopaedic Clinic, specializing in hand and upper extremity surgery. He recently completed his residency at Columbia University.

Winners of this year’s Governor’s Award for Environment Excellence are The Alchemist Brewery, Barre’s Downstreet Housing & Community Development, Global Foundries, Vermont Coffee Co., and the Village of Essex Junction.

Amy King, president of KAS Inc., announced the addition of Jeremy Roberts, environmental program manager, as a partner with the company. Roberts has been with KAS since its initiation in 2004.

Cheeseman Insurance Group announced a new address for its Vergennes office: 229 Main St., Suite 2C.

Gov. Phil Scott announced the reappointment of Kevin Mullin as chair of the Green Mountain Care Board. Mullin has served for the last 15 months as interim chair, completing the remainder of Al Gobeille’s term after Gobeille stepped down to serve as secretary of Human Services. The governor also announced the appointment of 19 Vermonters to serve on his new Community Violence Prevention Task Force, including co-chairs Melissa Bailey, commissioner of the Vermont Department of Mental Health, and Dan Barkhuff, M.D., The University of Vermont Medical Center.

Brian Racine joined Coldwell Banker Hickok & Boardman Realty as sales manager for the Steve Lipkin Team. Racine’s decade of sales and management experience was earned at his family’s business, Willie Racine’s Jeep.

Liquid Measurement Systems announced the hiring of three individuals: John Burleson II as electrical engineer, Nick Fortin as QA Tech II, and Ron van Zullen as business development professional.

James Baker was honored by the Vermont Community Foundation and the organizing committee for the Con Hogan Award for Creative, Entrepreneurial, Community Leadership with this year’s award. Baker is the former police chief in Rutland and current leader of a community revitalization effort in Arlington, where he lives. The award was established by a group of Hogan’s colleagues in 2015. Hogan died on August 26.

United Way of Northwest Vermont hired Dillon Boisvert as human resources and operations associate, Alison DeFisher as marketing and communications manager, Jeff Haislet as data coordinator, Trezana Robertson as coordinator of volunteer management, and Nina Quinton as donor relations and events coordinator. Connie Beal was promoted to manager and Lisa Jensen to initiative director of Working Bridges. Boisvert was with the Heineberg Community Senior Center; DeFisher was with a transit authority in Cincinnati; Haislet was with Champlain College; and Quinton was in higher education administration in Boston.

Vanasse Hangen Brustlin hired Lucy Thayer as a landscape designer. Thayer has six years of landscape architecture experience and was project manager for a $1.2 million project for the state of Vermont. Cierra Ford joined VHB as a transportation designer. She is a recent graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a bachelor of science in civil engineering.

Nedde Real Estate hired Nikki Fitzcharles as director of operations. Fitzcharles has over 15 years of executive level customer service and team management, having owned a consulting firm that served many Vermont businesses.

Abbey Salomon joined Community Capital of Vermont as a credit loan officer. Salomon has a background in consumer credit counseling, accounting, defining processes and systems, and training and supervising employees.

North Star Leasing hired Michael Coon as its first chief commercial officer. Coon was president of the National Equipment Finance Association. North Star also announced the hiring of Jay Condor, Scott Goodwin, and Justin Ward to its sales team and Rachel Montross to its funding and accounting team. Susan Stevens was promoted to broker relations manager, Alex Dean is now syndication manager, and Kit Antinozzi has moved from the sales team to the documentation team. •
